my computer before... Crying or Very sad it was devastating .... I lost so much.
I have become accoustomed to writing on the machine .........writer's block
Pen and paper just didn't work for me anymore.

It didn't cost too much to get fixed... it was the starting over
that was the biggest bummer. confused I have learned since to save
important pictures and documents onto discs.

Good luck with your computer ... LOL ... you are probably gonna
get some housework done! chaplin

Hey Delphina, what happened and more important, is it recoverable? So many performance issues come from spyware and related content. I've been fixing these kind of problems for years, so if you need any advice, please let me know.

Hi Everyone

Finally made it back to the library. They keep bankers hours. Sad
No... actually, come to think of it, the bank is open more then the library! Umm...
Shocked

Hi Earl

This is what I did. The microsoft site said that Firefox needed updating. So I clicked on update. Then it said turn off and restart... I did.
But when I restarted all I get it "Hard drive cannot be found"
The worst part is I was just about finished typing out the letter I was writing to Prof Akers!
When I put the disks in to repair is says it cannot complete. I will go home and try it again, write everything down that it says and then wait for the library to open again. Very Happy

We are only allowed 1/2 hour, so I must go now.

Talk to everyone in a bit.

Hi Evie

Yes... I have learned the hard way to back up pictures. I save most of them on an online album... or two. I do need much luck in this one!
I haven't gotten much housework done, but I have got a lot of the work outside done.... Like the whipper snippering that I was trying to put off until about.... next year (he,he)
Talk to you later, Delphina

Short of a computer failing to power up or process its POST, nothing is more catastrophic than a hard disk failure. While its seems like the hard disk may be gone, there may be factors that may be able to mitigate and produce a favorable result. At this point the exact verbiage of the error message is critical. It may be a dead drive (or a problem computer making the drive appear dead) or it may be a software condition on an otherwise good drive. Knowing the exact message (spare no details) will help determine what needs to be done next.

Okay... I will do that and let you know. It may be a few days again though because the library closes during the weekends.
Talk to you in a bit Smile

LOL, computer problems kept me gainfully employed for 19 years, so it is a double edge sword by my reckoning (and I still work part time in the industry, although employers favor YOUTH in the computer field. The one profession where experience is not all that important...)

Over the last few years, I have seen the biggest problem on computers to be spyware. (Don't know what spyware is? Click on this link: http://www.freewebs.com/jctech/ ) Keeping a PC spyware free (or as close to it as possible) is critical to reliable computer operations.
