PostSubject: RED WINE STAINS ON TABLE LINEN   Fri May 18, 2007 11:48 pm

Here are some tips to remove a red wine stain from white table linen.

1. If the stain is fresh and still wet....

First boil a full kettle of water, then remove everything from the table, take the tablecloth, and stretch the fabric over a pan in the sink.

Once the water is boiling, pull a chair up to the sink, stand on it with the kettle, and poured the boiling water over the stain from a height of three to four feet. This stain removing technique works like magic! But be careful not to spill hot water all over yourself..LOL..

2. If the stain is already dry....

If the stain is dry try soaking the red wine in white wine to bleach it out. Finally, cover the stain with a thick baking soda paste, leave it for a few hours keeping it moist by spraying it with water from a spray bottle. Wash as normal.

Ah ha in my element here! I use to be a waiter cum bartender in my youth...Geeze I sound so old.

1. Stretch Table cloth out so you can see the red wine or blood stain more properly. Pour table salt onto the stain and let sit until granules have soaked up stain. (if fresh try and rinse out first before doing this)

2. White wine, pour white wine on stain...(Personally I would prefer to drink it...lol)

3. Soda water: At a restaurant nowhere near a washing machine and you get red wine, blood, red food on your blouse or shirt. Get a napkin and soak it in soda water and rub stain to get most of it out. If you do this immediately it should get rid of the stain.

Salt and Soda water work better than White wine.

Great advice!!! Thanks, I am sure we all had this horrible incident when we had to get a stubborn stain out of 'grandma's inherited damask table cloth...LOL

PostSubject: BALLPOINT INK ON FABRICS   Sat May 19, 2007 8:12 am

Believe it or not, the quickest way to remove ballpoint ink from a white school shirt, is to soak it in yes....hairspray...LOL. Spray hairspray on the stain until it is soaked...l

Lave for a few seconds then rinse under cold water. Repeat if necessary... It will get rid of ballpoint stains on most furniture upholstery too...except for imitation leather...since the ink will be absorbed by the plastic...

PostSubject: RUST STAINS ON BATHROOM TILES AND CERAMICS   Sun May 20, 2007 7:17 am

Tartaric Acid...

The only thing I have ever found to really remove rust stains on ceramic tiles, baths, washbasins and toilets...

Make a paste with tartaric acid powder and water and apply to the stain... Leave overnight... It should have disappeared in the morning.
